Some Beneficial Types of Freezers

There are different types of freezers available in the market that varies considerably in their design, inbuilt features and capacity. If you need to choose a best freezer for your home, then you need to know more about the efficiency and uses of different freezers.

Some important types of freezer that are used by most of the people are listed below:

Blast freezers:

It has a conveyor belt, which is usually made from perforated stainless steel to carry the product to be frozen. Electric fans mounted over the conveyor are used to circulate the chilled air down over the product, through the perforations in the belt and back up over the evaporator coils. These freezers are used in applications such as chicken joints, vegetables, burgers, ready meals and pizzas.

Plate freezers:

These freezers are used for freezing large blocks of product. Moreover, they can used for bulk storage and distribution and are used widely. All commercial plate freezers work effectively and use mechanical refrigeration. Some important applications of this freezer are fruits, juices, vegetables and coffee concentrates. A few plate freezers have automatic loading and discharge systems to provide continuous freezing. Turning the vertical plate freezer on its sides gives a horizontal plate freezer. These freezers are similar to carton freezers. However, due to its flexible features it has a wide range of applications.

Spiral freezers:

Almost all the spiral freezers make use of mechanical refrigeration. This freezer plays a vital role in the food industry due to its effective freezing capabilities that are required for preserving large quantities of food products for a longer time. Applications and performance of the spiral freezers are similar to straight blast and tunnel freezers.

Immersion freezers:

This type of freezers uses liquid nitrogen for its effective operation. This liquid nitrogen has a violent boiling point and as a result of its high boiling point, it produces turbulence which helps to keep the products separate and ensures high heat transfer coefficients. This freezer is used for freezing two types of food stuffs such as prawns and bulky items like the turkey which needs rapid freezing. The lack of gas circulating fans means less heat input to the tunnel and this helps to keep the liquid nitrogen consumption down.

Carton freezers:

This is one of the simplest types of mechanical refrigeration freezer. In this freezer, the products are placed on the trays, racks or trolleys and loaded into the cabin for freezing.

These are some of the important freezers that are used widely due to their flexible features. Presently, due to the advanced cooling system freezers are used in a wide range of applications such as humidor, fridge, wine cabinet and much more that might be beyond your expectations.

Question by YahooCommiAnswers: What is it about putting babies in freezers?
in the last few years i’ve heard stories from Germany about police finding babies/toddlers in freezers. It is shocking, and horrible. I am just wondering why it is just in Germany or is it elsewhere but it doesn’t get reported? It’s just very strange.

unfortunately it is true

M/C cable is not a approved method for electrical wiring for a walk in cooler or freezer. You should refer to articial 300.7 of the national electrical code book for more information.
