Will The Wilson Staff Ci9 Irons Improve Your Game?

The Wilson Staff Ci9 irons are the third upgrade of the award winning Ci, or control iron, and the new design offers a refreshing and very much playable midsize iron, providing superb performance and playability. The new Ci9 iron has a traditional midsize head design that will appeal to all levels of golfer. The new head shape will provide you with a quick boost of confidence, with it’s thinner top-line and slightly progressive offset.

This new iron is made from soft 431 stainless steel, and features a new “Soft Response” insert, which stretches right across the cavity back. This new insert provides the player with a satisfying sound at impact and also gives a more solid feel, even with off-centre strikes. The Wilson Staff Ci9 irons also features a hidden rear cavity exoskeleton, which allowed Wilson to push weight to the heel and toe, creating a higher moment of inertia (MOI). This weight distribution provides more stability, and also keeps the centre of gravity directly behind the sweet spot, enabling more power. The new Ci9 irons are available with Aldila VS graphite shafts, or with the new FST Step-Less steel shafts which are lightweight and designed with a step-less barrel to provide more consistency and feel. The Ci9 irons also have modified U grooves, which conform to USGA and R&A specifications.

Some Features Of The Wilson Staff Ci9 Irons:

Soft Response: Soft 431 stainless steel and the one-piece Soft Response insert for a solid sound and feel
Exoskeleton: The exoskeleton at the rear cavity puts more weight to the heel and toe for more stability and a higher MOI
Crossover Styling: The new head shape provides elements designed for the Tour player-but will appeal to all levels of player
Groove Conformance: Modified U-grooves take the limits to the maximum required by the USGA and R&A

The new Wilson Staff Ci9 irons fall under what Wilson call the C-style category player. The aim was to develop an iron that would fulfill crossover styles without affecting the playability of the club, and the company are confident this third generation of their control irons, the Ci9, will deliver this.

Question by stmcub04: Which are better irons, Wilson Staff Pi7′s or MacGregor Mactec m685′s?
I owned a set of Wilson Staff Pi5′s and really liked them and hit the demo 6 iron of the Pi7 and they felt really good as well. I tried hitting the MacGregor Mactec m685 and they felt very good. Any opinions on which are better overall clubs?
